Flair Events is an organisation that staffs events around the U.K. Although 60% is bar work, there are many other events they staff, from waiting tables in large events, marathons around the country, football events, festivals, Pride and assault courses. What you can apply for can be anything from handing out water to encouraging people around the assault courses.
Anthony says “My own recent events were so different from each other. My first one was Brighton Pride. The job was to work behind the bar in Preston Park, and they were expecting 60,000 plus. Although I had not worked behind a bar in years, I soon found out many others were a bit nervous also. We all just got on with it, and delivered an excellent service. Also, the main stage was in full sight we could sing along and dance and have fun. In contrast, the other event I worked at was in Stamner Park at an event called Adrenalin Rush, where all profits went to Cancer Research. Around the vast space were obstacles for participants to complete in a mini-marathon. The staff were all given one obstacle to look after and encourage the participants as they came towards you. It was amazing fun, everybody was fantastic, and at the end you were allowed to do the course yourself…..I didn’t! Working at Flair, there is also the added bonus of events all over the U.K. so you can combine each event will travel to either cities you want to visit or visit family and still have the best end of Fifty pounds to spend.”
Flair Events is a great and flexible company to work for, for students, people who want to work at their own pace, or simply for the fun, experience or just to earn extra money. Once you have registered they will ask what experience you have, if any. Then you need to do some online training to cover legal requirements and they are very straight forward. Personality is the main thing they are looking for a good work ethic, and humour. You will also need some I.D. and a bank account. You get paid the Friday after the event and they are always reliable, they don’t mess you about. The pay is always quite a bit over national wage and you get lunch supplied. You can book as many events as you like or as few as you like, the only thing is once you have committed to an event, if you can’t make it, you need to give notice of a week to cancel it. The events come up months in advance and all over the U.K. as stated. All they are really looking for are up-beat people friendly and social. There is something for everybody and its massive fun.
