Dear Readers,

This week one of our local artists Simon Young gave us permission to share one of his songs with you. It is a rather touching song which has a rather strong sense of longing which is captured not only in words but in tone as well. The song is called ‘Home (Flicker in the Storm)’ and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

1

My hands are cold as snow,

I shiver in the dark.

Upon my bed of stone

I watch the lonely stars.

(Chorus)

Give me a place to call my own.

Give me a hand that I can hold.

Give me a shelter from the storm.

Give me a home, please, give me a home.

2

The people pass me by

Without an idle word.

From the corner of their eyes they see

A stranger in their world.

3

The nights are drawing in.

The winter wind’s forlorn.

My lonely life is but

A flicker in the storm

(Chorus)

Give me a place to call my own.

Give me a hand that I can hold.

Give me a shelter from the storm.

Give me a home, please, give me a home.

Give me a place where I belong

Give me a chance, and I’ll be strong.

Give new the strength to carry on.

Give me a home, please, give me a home

Give me a place where I belong

Give me a hand that I can hold

Give me a shelter from the storm

Give me a home, please, give me a home.

Give me a home, please, give me a home.

Let me go home, please, let me go home…
